Begin with registration at Machame Gate before walking through lush rainforest. The trail gradually rises beneath tall trees and rich vegetation toward Machame Camp. Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Rising (ft): 10,200ft / 3,100m to 12,600ft / 3,840m | Stretch: 9 km | Hiking time: 4–6 hours | Climatic habitat: Moorland. Leave the rainforest and climb through open moorland toward the Shira Plateau. The landscape becomes wider, cooler and more dramatic, with impressive mountain views when visibility is good. Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

Today provides valuable acclimatization as the trail crosses high terrain toward Lava Tower before descending toward Barranco. Walking high and sleeping lower supports gradual altitude adjustment. Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Departure Day: Moshi Town to Kilimanjaro Airport
