Day 1: Moshi Town to Lemosho/Londorossi Gate to Big Tree Camp

Day 1: Moshi Town to Lemosho/Lendorosi Gate to Big Tree Camp - Stretch: 6 km | Hiking time: 3-4 hours | Climatic habitat: Rain Forest. After registration and entry procedures, begin walking through lush rainforest toward Big Tree Camp. Look for birds, monkeys and changing vegetation along the trail while maintaining a comfortable pace. The forest provides a beautiful introduction to the Lemosho Route. Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch.

Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp - Stretch: 18 km | Hiking time: 8-10 hours | Climatic habitat: Moorland. Leave the forest behind and climb through open moorland toward the Shira Plateau. Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp - Stretch: 10 km | Hiking time: 6-8 hours | Climatic habitat: Semi Desert. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 4: Barranco camp to Karanga Camp to Bafaru Camp - Stretch: 9 km | Hiking time: 8-10 hours | Climatic habitat: Alpine Desert. Tackle the famous Barranco Wall before continuing toward Karanga and then Barafu Camp. Take a short rest and lunch break before continuing to the high camp. At Barafu, prepare your summit clothing, organize your daypack and rest as much as possible. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp - Stretch: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent | Hiking time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent | Climatic habitat: Arctic. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi Town

Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi Town - Stretch: 10 km | Hiking time: 3-4 hours | Climatic habitat: Rain Forest. 6 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climbing: Trust and Safety

Your safety comes first throughout the climb. Experienced mountain guides monitor your condition, conduct daily health checks and carry oxygen for emergency support. The itinerary emphasizes slow walking, proper hydration and altitude awareness, using the climb high, sleep low principle where appropriate. Temperatures can fall sharply at altitude, so suitable warm clothing is essential. Follow your guide’s instructions, report symptoms early and never rush the summit.

Training and Fitness for the Six-Day Climb

Prepare your body with regular walking, hiking, stair training and aerobic exercise before arrival. Build gradually toward longer uphill walks while carrying a light daypack. The 6-day Lemosho route requires long hours at high elevation, with summit day being particularly demanding. Good fitness helps you maintain a steady pace, but altitude adaptation is equally important. Start training early and arrive ready to walk slowly and consistently.

Why Choose Lemosho Route in February?

February’s combination of dry weather, mild lower-elevation temperatures and generally clear views makes Lemosho an attractive choice. The route offers changing landscapes, impressive volcanic scenery and a quieter beginning than some heavily used approaches. Clear conditions can make photography especially rewarding. If you want a scenic route during a favorable period, contact us now to reserve your February climb.

6 Days vs 7 Days vs 8 Days Lemosho in February

A 6-day Lemosho climb is the faster option and suits hikers who want a shorter itinerary and are comfortable with demanding walking days. A 7-day itinerary provides more time on the mountain, while an 8-day plan generally offers additional acclimatization and a more relaxed pace. If your priority is altitude adjustment and comfort, ask us whether seven or eight days would better match your fitness and previous trekking experience.

Before or After Your February Kilimanjaro Climb

Complete your Tanzania adventure with a wildlife safari or beach holiday. Consider Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park or Lake Manyara for wildlife and scenery. For relaxation, add a Zanzibar beach stay after your climb. Tell us what you want to see and we can help arrange additional tours around your Kilimanjaro dates.
