Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi Hotel
Pickup from Kilimanjaro Airport to your booked hotel in Moshi. This arrival transfer allows you to settle in before the mountain section. Hotel accommodation before the hike can be arranged according to your travel requirements. Meal arrangements for this arrival day should be confirmed when booking.
Day 1: Moshi Town to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Rising: 5,600ft / 1,830m to 10,200ft / 3,100m | Stretch: 11 km | Hiking time: 5–7 hours | Climatic habitat: Rain Forest. The hike begins after transfer to Machame Gate, followed by walking through rainforest toward Machame Camp. The changing altitude and forest environment introduce the first mountain stage. Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Rising: 10,200ft / 3,100m to 12,600ft / 3,840m | Stretch: 9 km | Hiking time: 4–6 hours | Climatic habitat: Moorland. The trail leaves the rainforest and continues toward the Shira area, with increasing elevation and open mountain scenery. The day’s walking supports gradual acclimatization while progressing across the Machame Route. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Hiking time: 5–7 hours | Rising: 12,600ft / 3,840m to 12,700ft / 3,860m | Stretch: 15 km | Climatic habitat: Semi-desert. The route crosses the high-altitude Shira landscape toward Barranco Camp. The trail provides changing views and terrain as you continue across the mountain. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Hiking time: 6–8 hours | Rising: 4,000m / 13,000ft to 4,700m / 15,350ft | Stretch: 9 km | Climatic habitat: Alpine Desert. The route continues toward Barafu Camp through alpine desert terrain. This is an important preparation stage before the summit attempt, with increasing altitude requiring a steady walking pace and appropriate rest. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Rising: 4,700m / 15,350ft to 5,895m / 19,343ft, down to 3,090m / 10,150ft | Stretch: 6 km up / 13 km down | Hiking time: 5–7 hours up / 5–6 hours down | Climatic habitat: Arctic. This is the summit day, reaching Uhuru Peak before descending toward Mweka Camp. The demanding elevation and long walking day require preparation, patience and careful pacing. Day 6: Mweka Camp to Machame Gate to Moshi Town to Arusha
Descend: 3,090m / 10,150ft to 1,680m / 5,500ft | Stretch: 10 km | Hiking time: 3–4 hours | Climatic habitat: Rain Forest. The descent continues through rainforest to Machame Gate. After reaching Moshi, you will be transferred onward to Arusha for the night before the safari section. Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
Day 7: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Pickup is around 7:00 am–8:00 am; the exact time will be confirmed. The drive to Tarangire takes approximately 2 hours (109 km), followed by a game drive where elephants and other wildlife may be seen. Late afternoon, continue to Mto wa Mbu or Karatu for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 8: Mto wa Mbu/Karatu to Serengeti National Park
You will be picked up from Arusha around 9:00 am–9:30 am, with the exact time updated beforehand. Continue toward Serengeti for game viewing and an overnight stay in Central Serengeti. Please note that check-in time affects the following day’s permitted checkout time according to park regulations. Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park Game Drive to Ngorongoro Rim
Enjoy a game drive in Serengeti before later driving toward the gate for checkout. Checkout time depends on the original check-in time. Similarly, your Ngorongoro Conservation Area check-in time determines the applicable checkout time. Overnight is planned around the Ngorongoro Rim. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive and Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive, then continue to the Ngorongoro Gate for checkout. Checkout time depends on the check-in time. You are expected to arrive in Arusha around 5:30 pm–6:30 pm. Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
